Fancy your own private jetty? What about an exclusive island villa? We take a look at Abu Dhabi’s most luxurious residential developments. Now where did we put our checkbook?
The Hills
Few have heard of The Hills development near the Grand Mosque and the Armed Forces Officers Club and even fewer know the complex is home to luxurious five-bedroom villas. With sweeping staircases and stunning hallways, they are architectural masterpieces. They boast modern, clean, white lines with splashes of dark, smooth wood. On site you’ll find a gym, tennis court, beach and playground. Your two private pools, beach access and private jetty to moor your boat will set you back AED 1 million per year.
The Residences at The St. Regis
Just outside the city, you will find the newly developed Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s answer to culture, lifestyle and world-class education. Let’s not forget the island’s pristine beach, five-star hotels and golf course, which is frequented by wildlife. The Residences at The St. Regis are in the grounds of The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort. These villas come with landscaped gardens and a private pool. There are four- and five-bedroom homes that are beautifully finished and offer great views over the golf course. Open kitchens, high vaulted ceilings and a practical layout make them a lovely family home. With The Collection at The St. Regis on your doorstep, you can enjoy a selection of restaurants and bars, Spinneys and RIPE Saturday market. Rent the villas for AED 1 million a year.
Saadiyat Beach Villas
Adjacent to The Residences at The St. Regis are Saadiyat Beach Villas, where a six-bedroom premium villa rents for AED 1.2 million a year. These villas have enormous gardens and views of the golf course and Saadiyat Beach. You may feel like you’re on a permanent holiday as you sit in your private garden and listen to the sound of the waves on the nearby beach. Residents also benefit from an on-site gym, pool, tennis courts and the facilities at The Collection, which are a five-minute walk away.
Al Gurm Resort
This is one of the most exclusive developments in Abu Dhabi. Situated in a mangrove reserve off Khaleej Al Arabi, ten minutes from the city centre, you would be hard pressed to find a more practical gem. Each of the 73 villas has a pool on the third floor, which blends in with the water below and overlooks your private wooden jetty. With four spacious bedrooms, a modern kitchen and a rooftop terrace, it is perfect for entertaining. But this all comes with a rental price tag of AED 1.2 million per year.
Nurai Island
This stunning property is inaccessible to most but hey, we can dream. A six-bedroom Shoreline Beachfront villa covers 1, 580 sqm and faces the open sea. With only a handful of other residents within earshot, this is the epitome of privacy and exclusivity. The island villas come with steam and sauna rooms, a gym and cinema. But the highlight is the infinity pool, which looks as though it’s flowing into the ocean. The Nurai Island villas cost AED 25 million to buy and rival most palaces. Nurai Island is ten minutes off the coast of Saadiyat Island and is only accessible by boat. There’s also a boutique hotel, Zaya Nurai Island, where you can enjoy a quiet meal, watersports or
spa treatment.
